Group Excavations with OCTA
As a member of the Colorado Archaeological Society, The Historic Preservation Alliance of Colorado Springs, and the Oregon-California Trail Association [OCTA]; Southern Colorado Chapter, I am able to meet with like-minded individuals, as well as those who have pursued this passion professionally. Here pictured is a couple excavations with the local OCTA chapter as we use GPS-points to map the old Cherokee Trail using our knowledge of trail depressions to identify the path. Further more, some of us are equipped with metal detectors and dig targets along the trail in order to better understand the time period. All artifacts are flagged and left with the property owners.
